Paul, Thanks for the comment. I worked at 2SD from 1974 to 1994, the propeller was introduced in 1972 with the introduction of the blue/grey All Seasons uniform. See Rank Insignia blue on my site.

I was on 30 intake - 1976 to 78 at Wagga) I remember a leading apprentice had a propellor sewn on the sleeve and other ranks likewise. I can't remember seeing slides till after I discharged in1985.
